Meet Dr. Shweta Trivedi

Dr. Shweta Trivedi received her veterinary degree (Bachelor of Veterinary Science) in 1998 from Gobind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, the first premier Land Grant pattern University of India. She received the renowned Junior Research fellowship for doing Masters of Veterinary Science degree in Veterinary Immunology from Indian Veterinary Research Institute in 2000 during which she investigated the diagnostic techniques for bovine tuberculosis. She completed PhD in Immunology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University in 2005. Dr. Trivedi went on to do her postdoctoral fellowship at the Laboratory of Allergic Diseases, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (2005-2007) and she continued her subsequent postdoctoral fellowship in the Environmental Genetics Group at National institute of Environmental Health Sciences (2007-2009), NIH with Dr. Steven Kleeberger

Currently, Dr. Trivedi is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Animal Science at NCSU where she teaches two courses in Anatomy and Physiology of domestic animals, a professional development course of pre-veterinary track students as well as a study abroad courses in wildlife conservation and animal behavior in South Africa and UK, respectively. She is the founding director of Veterinary Professions Advising Center (VetPAC) at NCSU which provides assistance and advice for PreVet track students in applying to College of Veterinary Medicine at NCSU, across the United States as well as internationally.  Her accomplishments as an advisor include several awards and honors at College and University level. She served as the NAAHP Liaison to the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges for 6 years till 2017. She has hosted numerous presented workshops and sessions at the NAAHP conference on advising since the last 14 years. She has hosted the Annual Conference of the PreVeterinary Medical Association twice in 2012, 2017 & 2024. Her advising manuscripts have been published in NACTA, JVME, Translational Animal Science and NAAHP Advisor. In her free time, she likes to hike with her dog and children, bake and paint flowers.
